On 10/3 GriffinSports lost to the Black Wolves 7-4 and defeated the Bulldogs 7-6. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Zach Peters, who had three hits, including a walk off game winning bases loaded double, and three RBI’s. 
• Jacob Cantrell, who had four hits including a double, scored three runs, a walk and two RBI’s. 
• Anthony Delgado, who had two hits, scored a run and an RBI. Anthony also pitched five innings giving up two earned runs,  five hits and three strikeouts.
• Lenin Guerrero, who had a triple, scored two runs and an RBI. 
• Alex Wojtala, who had two hits and scored a run. Alex also pitched three innings allowing one earned run. 
• Joe Bates, who had a single, scored a run, three walks and an RBI.
• Xavier Rodriguez, who had five put-outs at first base.
• Kevin Keane, who had a hit, a walk and scored two runs.
• CJ Griffin, who had a double, scored two runs and had three walks. CJ was the winning pitcher in relief when he pitched a scoreless sixth inning.

On 9/26 GriffinSports split a doubleheader with the Shaker Spartans, losing 4-3 and winning 7-2. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

On 9/12 GriffinSports defeated the Longhorns 11-1 and 10-6. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• CJ Griffin who had two hits including a two run homerun, three walks, scored three runs and two RBI’s.
• Zach Peters who had a double, a walk and scored three runs. Zach also pitched four innings with eight strikeouts. At one point in the game Zach struck-out five Longhorn hitters in a row.
• Kevin Keane who had three hits, two walks and scored a run.
• Jacob Cantrell who had one hit, three walks and scored three runs. Jacob also threw out a runner at home who tried to tag up and score from third base on a fly-ball to center-field.

On 8/29 GriffinSports defeated the Cougars 6-3 and 11-4. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Joe Bates, who had four hits including a double, a run scored and six RBI’s

• Anthony Delgado, who had three hits and scored a run. Anthony also recorded a save when he struck-out the last two batters game one
• Joe Peters, who had three hits including a double, a walk, scored two runs and had an RBI. Joe also recorded a save when he struck-out the last two batters of game two. 
• Zach Peters, who had a hit, a walk and scored two runs. Zach also got the win in game two when he pitched five 1/3 innings, with six strikeouts and allowing one earned run. His fall baseball team leading ERA is 1.39
• Kevin Keane, who had two hits including a double, a walk and scored two runs.
• Jake Cantrell, who had two hits and scored three runs.
• Alex Wojtala, who had a hit and scored a run. Alex also got the win when he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three earned run and four strikeouts.

Ardell Cloud who ended the season leading the team in hitting (.422), RBI’s (19) and On Base Percentage (.641) had four hits, including a double, five RBI’s, two walks and scored a run.

Jacob Cantrell who ended the season second on the team with a (.576) On-Base percentage, had a single, a walk, a stolen base and scored a run. In one game Jacob also had six put-outs in center field, including a diving catch on a sinking line drive.

Kevin Keane who led the team in doubles (8), was third on the team with a (.550) On-Base percentage and ended the season hitting (.333) had three hits including two doubles, a run scored and two walks. Kevin also made a spectacular back-handed catch, one foot from the fence deep in foul territory in left field. 

CJ Griffin who ended the season fourth on the team in On-Base Percentage (.481) had four hits, two stolen bases and scored a run. CJ also made a diving catch in the hole at shortstop.

Zach Peters who ended the season second on the team in doubles (6) had three hits including a double, a stolen base and two walks. Zach also had a nice play at third base when he made a bare-handed pick-up on a slow rolling ball down the third base line and threw out the batter at first base.

Alex Wojtala who had a hit and who lead the team in innings pitched (44), strikeouts (23) and ERA (3.34), pitched four innings with only one walk.

Joe Bates who had four hits including a double, four walks, scored a run, a stolen base and an RBI.

Wilzon Santos who ended the season second on the team in hitting (.346) had four hits, five stolen bases and two RBIs. Wilzon also threw out a runner at home who was trying to score on a single from second base.

Jonathan Griffin who hit a season high .308 had two hits and two walks. 

Alejandro Gonzalez Jr who led the team in runs (18) had a double, scored three runs, (one when he tagged up and scored from third base on a pop-up to the first baseman in foul territory) and a walk.

Lucas Daugherty who had a single and an RBI and an unassisted double play at third base. It was the ninth GriffinSports double play of the season. Lucas also pitched six innings with five strikeouts and no walks.

David Pierce who pitched four innings and only allowed one run to the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Cubs.

Chris Grillo had two hits, a walk, scored two runs and had two RBIs

Brandon Evans had three walks and a stolen base.

Jonathan Giebel who was nursing a back injury, pitched two innings with one strikeout.

Javier Camargo who in one game had three put-outs in right field.

GriffinSports Lost both games in the CABA World series on Sunday. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

The 15U and 17U teams will play in the Great Lakes League

• 6 week season with Labor Day Weekend off
• Games will be on Sunday’s starting on August 22nd
• (2) 6 inning games (DH)
• Most games will start at 2pm in Richmond Hts – Euclid – Mayfield High 
• Players age is determined by his age on May 1, 2010

The cost to play is only $150, (Due by Aug. 7th)

We will also practice once per week at Maplewood Diamonds on Wednesday’s starting at 5:30pm

Highlights of the GriffinSports 18U Baseball Team

On 7/15 The GriffinSports 17U Baseball Team defeated Premier Baseball 6-5. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Rodney Bassett who pitched four strong innings and had two hits and two RBIs
• Ardell Cloud who had two RBIs.
• Andrew Pollock who had a hit and a great catch in right field.
• Alex Wojtala who was lights out in relief, pitching three shut-out innings for his fourth victory of the season.
• Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. who had a hit and  scored a run.
• Alejandro Gonzalez Jr., Ardell Cloud and CJ Griffin turned the eighth GriffinSports doubleplay of the season when they turned a “clutch” 6-4-3 doubleplay in the sixth inning.
• Also, Jonathon Griebel, who will be playing with our 15U team in the CABA High School World Series pitched his best game of the year tonight.  A two hit,  seven inning complete game (3-0) shut-out against a Mid Ohio Bullets team that won the U16 State Tournament.
• And, Lucas Daugherty who will be playing with our 15U team in the CABA High School World Series, pitched a complete game against the Central Ohio Select giving up no earned runs in a 4-1 victory.

On 7/2-7/4 The GriffinSports 18U Team competed in the Bay Village Independence Day Classic. Even though the much younger GriffinSports team lost all four games, Cincinnati Styx (14-4), Avon Lake All-Stars (9-7), and the Shoremen (5-2) and (8-2) they were mostly competitive games . Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Nolan Grenig who is second on the team in hitting (.320) with an On-Base Percentage of (.520) had three hits, two walks and scored two runs.
• Brandon McCartney who had two hits, a walk and two RBIs.
• Rodney Bassett who leads the team in hitting (.409) with an On-Base Percentage of (.545) had three hits and an RBI.
• David Kowakski who had two hits including a double, and scored two runs.
• Andrew Samoson, who had a hit, scored two runs and an RBI.
• Andrew Pollock who had two hits including a double, scored a run and an RBI.
• CJ Griffin, who had two hits and an RBI.
• Jake Dersi who scored a run and had an RBI
• Ardell Cloud who had three walks, scored a run and an RBI.

On 6/18- 6/20The GriffinSports 18U Baseball Team played in the Tri-C Classic this past weekend. Eventhough the young GriffinSports team lost all three games to the more experienced teams in the tournament, they played well at certain times. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Rodney Bassett who is second on the team in hitting (.353) had two hits. Rodney also lowered his team leading ERA (2.80) by only giving up three runs in six innings and five strikeouts. He now has 12 strikeouts on the year. 
• Nolan Grenig who leads the team in On-Base Percentage (.529) had a double and scored a run.
• David Kowalski who is second on the team in On-Base Percentage (.471) had one hit, two walks and an RBI
• Brandon McCartney who slammed a double to deep left center field also made a great sliding catch behind the plate on a foul pop up.
• Will Wagner nearly missed hitting a home-run when he “jacked” a double deep to left field.  

The Blue Wave defeated GriffinSports 8-5 in Game #6 of the GriffinSports 18U Baseball Tournament. Highlights  for GriffinSports were:

• Nolan Grenig who had two hits, including a double and scored a run.
• Ardell Cloud who had two hits, two walks had an RBI and scored a run.
• Rodney Bassett who pitched six solid inning with four strikeouts.
• Rodney Bassett, CJ Griffin and Andrew Samoson, who turned a nice 1-6-3 doubleplay.  

Cleveland RBI defeated GriffinSports in Game #4 of the GriffinSports 18U Baseball Tournament. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Nolan Grenig who had an RBI single and scored a run.  
• Jonathan Molnar who had a hit and scored a run.
• Zach Peters who pitched two innings with-out giving up an earned run

The Westside Hornets defeated GriffinSports 8-4 in Game #1 of the GriffinSports 18U Baseball Tournament. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Ardell Cloud who had two hits and scored a run.
• Rodney Bassett who pitched seven strong innings only giving up three earned runs with four strikeouts.
• CJ Griffin had an RBI single
• Andrew Samoson who had a double and an RBI
• Zach Peters who had a 350 foot double deep to left field and a walk.

On 6/6 GriffinSports split a doubleheader with The Up To Bat Titans, winning the first game 4-3 and losing the second game 12-3. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Rodney Bassett who had two hits, two stolen bases and scored three runs, including the game winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning. Rodney also pitched a Complete Game (94 pitches) giving up one earned run and four strikeouts. He has a 1.00 ERA this summer. 
• Ardell Cloud who had three hits, three walks, (including an intentional walk in the bottom of the 7th inning) and scored a run.
• Brandon McCartneywho had one hit, scored a run and had two RBI’s  including the game winning RBI on a suicide squeeze in the bottom of the 7th inning. Brandon also called a GREAT game behind the plate,  nailing a runner trying to steal second base while catching both games (194 pitches) of the doubleheader.
• Nolan Grenig, who had two hits including a double, scored a run, two stolen bases and a walk.  
• David Kowalski, who pitched a complete game (100 pitches) only giving up two earned runs in the last five innings, striking out five.

• Ardell Cloud who leads the team in hitting (.451), On Base Percentage (.706) and RBIs (15) had a double, a walk and an RBI.
• Jacob Cantrell who is now second on the team in hitting (.373), second on the team in On Base Percentage (.627), second on the team in runs (12) and second on the team in stolen bases (8) had a hit, scored two runs, had two stolen bases, and an RBI.
• CJ Griffin who is third on the team in RBIs (11) and fourth on the team in On Base Percentage (.500) had a hit and an RBI.
• Javier Camargo who had a hit, scored a run, and a walk.
• Zach Peters, who had six assists at third base.

On 7/3 The GriffinSports 16U Baseball Team swept Lakewood in a doubleheader 15-7 and 14-4. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Jonathan Griffin who had two hits, a walk and scored three runs.
• Javier Camargo who had three hits including a double, five RBIs, scored two runs and a stolen base
• Joshua Rivers who scored a run and had a walk
• David Pierce who had a hit, scored a run, had a stolen base and a walk. David who is second on the team in innings pitched (24) pitched four innings without giving up an earned run.
• Alex Wojtala, who is now hitting a season high (.311), scored three runs, had two hits, two walks, one stolen base and two RBI’s.
• Jacob Cantrell who is now hitting (.360) had a hit, two walks, scored three runs, had two stolen bases and three RBIs
• Zach Peters, who now has a seven game hitting streak, scored three runs, had three hits, including a double, two walks, five stolen bases, including home and three RBIs. Zach got his second win of the season when he pitched three innings only allowing two earned runs.
• Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. who leads the team in runs (15) and stolen bases (15) , scored five runs, had seven stolen bases, two hits including a triple and three walks. Alejandro also gave up two earned runs in three innings of pitching.
• Kevin Keane who is second on the team in hitting (.375) and second in On-Base percentage (.604) scored three runs, had four hits, two walks and four RBIs
• Chris Grillo who scored three runs, had two hits, one walk and an RBI.
• Brandon Evans who had five hits including a double and five RBIs while catching both games of the doubleheader.
• Alex Wojtala, Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. and David Pierce turned an impressive 1-4-3 doubleplay. It was the seventh doubleplay of the season.

The GriffinSports 15U Baseball Team played in the 15u State Tournament this past weekend and finished 1-4. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Kevin Keane who hit .600 in the tournament (9-15) including two doubles, scored three runs, four walks, one RBI and one stolen base. Kevin is now second on the team in hitting (.378).Kevin also made a game saving play at second base when he started a doubleplay in the bottom of the seventh inning.
• Ardell Cloudwho leads the team in hitting (.442) and On-Base Percentage (.698)had four hits including a double, three RBIs, five walks including an intentional walk and scored a run. But most amazingly Ardell caught every inning of the entire tournament when he had to battle the 90+ degree temperatures for three days in a row.
• Jacob Cantrell who is second on the team with a (.526) On-base percentage, had four hits, scored two runs, four walks, one stolen base and an RBI.
• CJ Griffin who is third on the team with a (.512) On-Base percentage and second on the team in runs (8)  had four hits, three walks, scored five runs, two RBIs and a stolen base. CJ was also the winning pitcher when with one out and the winning run on third base he pitched out of the jam forcing the game into extra innings.
• Zach Peters, who leads the team in ERA (3.50) took a perfect game into the fifth inning in game one, he also had three hits and four RBIs
• Alex Wojtala, who is second on the team in ERA (4.10) and leads the team in strikeouts (16) pitched 10 innings and had six strikeouts. He also had three hits, scored three runs, two walks and an RBI.
• Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. who leads the team in stolen bases (8), and runs scored (10), had two doubles, three stolen bases, scored two runs, two walks and two RBIs

On 6/30 The GriffinSports 16U Baseball Team lost to North Royalton 3-2. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

In a game that took only one hour and fifteen minutes:

• David Pierce who is second on the team in innings pitched (20), only allowed one earned run in 5 1/3  innings with six strikeouts and no walks. 
• Alex Wojtala, who lowered his team leading ERA (3.74) allowed no earned runs in 1 2/3 innings and added to his team lead in strikeouts (18) with two.  
• Jacob Cantrell who is now hitting (.350) had a hit, a walk, scored a run and had two stolen bases
• Ardell Cloud who leads the team in RBIs (13) had a hit and an RBI.
• Andrew Samoson who is now hitting (.400) had two hits.
• CJ Griffin who is tied for the team lead in walks (8), scored a run,  had a stolen base and a walk. 
• Zach Peters, who is fourth on the team in hits (11) had a hit and a stolen base.
• Kevin Keane and Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. turned the fifth double play of the season with a nice 6-4 doubleplay.

On 6/29 The GriffinSports 16U Baseball Team lost to Premier Baseball 17-7. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Ardell Cloud who leads the team in hitting, (.449) and RBIs (15) had two hits including a triple, scored two runs and two RBIs
• David Kowalski who leads the team in slugging (.579) had two doubles, scored two runs and an RBI.
• Alex Wojtala, who had two hits, a walk and an RBI.  
• Jacob Cantrell who is now hitting (.372) had two hits, scored a run and a stolen base.
• Jake Dersi who had a hit, an RBI, scored a run and a stolen base. Jake also pitched three innings with one strikeout. 
• Zach Peters who has a five game hitting streak, had a hit, scored a run, and an RBI.
• Zach Peters, Kevin Keane and Alex Wojtala who turned the sixth doubleplayof the season with a nice 6-4-3 doubleplay.

On 6/21 GriffinSports lost to Berea 5-4. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Alex Wojtala who had two hits and scored a run.  Alex lowered his team low ERA ( 2.95), by pitching another complete game (3).  Alex also leads the team in strikeouts (10).     
• Wilson Santos who is now second on the team in hitting with a .357 batting average had two hits and a run scored.     
• Kevin Keane who is tied for the team lead in doubles (3) had a double, scored a run, had a walk and an RBI.   
• Ardell Cloud who leads the team with a .455 batting average, leads the team in hits (15), tied for the team lead in RBIs (8) had a two hits and an RBI. 
• Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. who leads the team in runs scored (8), scored a run, had a walk and an RBI.  
• CJ Griffin andJavier Camargoturned the fourth GriffinSports doubleplay of the season with a nice unassisted 6-3 double play.

On 6/15 GriffinSports lost both games of a doubleheader, to the Keystone Wild Cats. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Will Wagner who threw one shut-out inning.  
• Andrew Samoson who is second on the team in hitting with a .353 batting averageand third on the team with (5) RBIs had a hit and two RBIs.    
• Javier Camargo who had a sacrifice fly for an RBI.  
• Ardell Cloud who leads the team with a .443 batting average, leads the team in hits (13), second on the team in runs scored (6) and second on the team in RBIs (7), had a hit, scored a run and had an RBI.  

On 6/13 GriffinSports lost both games of a doubleheader, 8-4 and 5-4 in 8 innings to the Middleburg Hts. Hurricanes. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Alex Wojtala who had three hits including a double and two RBIs. 
• CJ Griffin who had two hits, including a double, a walk, a run scored and an RBI.  
• Jacob Cantrell who had two hits, scored a run and a walk. 
• Jonathan Molnar who had two hits and an RBI. 
• Zach Peters who had three hits, including a double, scored a run, had a walk and an RBI.

On 6/12 GriffinSports lost both games of a doubleheader to the Brookpark Warriors. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Alex Wojtala who pitched seven strong innings, giving up two runs and striking out five. 
• CJ Griffin who had two hits, including a double, a stolen base, a run scored and two RBIs.  
• Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. who pitched three innings only giving up one run and one strikeout. Alejandro also had two hits, scored a run on a wild pitch, an RBI and nearly made a diving catch in centerfield.
• Jonathan Molnar who had a hit, scored two runs, had two walks and a stolen base.

• CJ Griffin, Kevin Keane and Alex Wojtala nearly turned the third 6-4-3 doubleplay on the young season.

On 6/8 GriffinSports defeated Berea 7-3. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Jake Cantrell who had two hits, scored two runs and had two RBIs including a perfectly executed squeeze play. 
• Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. who scored three runs, had two walks, two stolen bases and a hit.
• Kevin Keane who had one hit, scored two runs, two walks and one stolen base. Kevin also turned an impressive 6-4-3 doubleplay with a bare-hand pivot at second base. 
• CJ Griffin, Kevin Keane and Alex Wojtala for turning a nice 6-4-3 doubleplay.
• Zach Peters, who tweaked his hamstring in the first inning, pitched a complete game (105 pitches) not giving up an earned run and striking out three. 

On 6/5 GriffinSports split a doubleheader with The West Akron A’s, losing the first game 3-2 and winning the night cap 9-5. Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Ardell Cloud who had four hits, including a double, scored two runs and had three RBI’s. 
• Andrew Samoson who had two hits including a double and three RBI’s. 
• Zach Peters who had two hits including a double and two RBI’s. 
• Alex Wojtala only needed 64 pitches to pitch a complete game. 
• Wil Wagner gave up one earned run in three innings for the first GriffinSports win of the season
• David Pierce pitched four solid innings without giving up an earned run 

On 5/25 GriffinSports lost both games of a doubleheader to a very good 16U Up to Bat Titans team.  Highlights for GriffinSports were:

• Ardell Cloud had two hits, scored a run and had an RBI single.
• CJ Griffin had an RBI double.
• David Kowalski had two doubles, scored two runs and one RBI.
• Kevin Keane scored two runs.
• Zack Peters, Jake Cantrell and Jonathan Molnarcompleted a nice 6-4-3 doubleplay
