The cutoff date for each age/grade will be September 1st.
For instance, a player playing in the 5th and 6th grade division cannot turn 12 before September 1st. If questioned the head coach will be held responsible for providing proof of age, (Birth Certificate).
All rules for the tourney will be those of the OHSAA with the following exceptions.
Having the proper grip is essential for maintaining a smooth, consistent swing. Hitters, line up your middle knuckles on the bat so that your hands are in the steadiest position possible. If your knuckles are not in this stabilizing position, your bat has a tendency to jump in your hands as you turn your wrists over to finish the swing.
A bat that is TOO HEAVY will slow down your swing and make it very difficult to maintain proper balance during your swing. Starting with improper balance only leads to improper form in swinging, which reduces the chances for a well-hit ball.
A bat that is TOO LIGHT will cause you to swing too fast, which also affects your rhythm and keeps you from driving the ball. A light bat also sometimes causes your shoulders to get ahead of your hips.
In an EFFECTIVE SWING, the hips should lead the rest of your body. Most of your power comes from the action of your hips!
